What is Loette?

Loette is a hormonal Birth Control regimen that is made up of estrogen and progestin. When properly used, the drug prevents conceptions. Essentially, the active components, i.e., estrogen and progestin, control menstruation and to avoid ovulation, respectively.

Further, the pill makes the vaginal fluid thicker, which prevents the sperm from swimming towards the egg to fertilize it. At the same time, it changes the lining of the uterus to prevent the fertilized egg from attaching itself.

Dosages and administrations with Loette

Loette is a pink tablet, which should be taken continuously for 21 days. That means you should take a pill at an interval of 24 hours, with a full glass of clean water. For the remaining 7 days, the doctor administers a white tablet, which you must take orally every 24 hours.

Remember to take the drug regularly. The effectiveness of the drug might reduce if it is taken at intervals exceeding 24 hours. That notwithstanding, ensure that you are not pregnant before you start this treatment.

How to Use Loette

21-days Loette courses

Start taking the drug on the first day of the flow of menses or the Sunday after you begin menses (Sunday start). Take one tablet each day, at the same time for 21 days. After the 21st day, take 7 days off, no pills, and resume the second cycle on the 8th day. This is the first day of the second cycle. Follow the same schedule as in the first cycle.

While using the medication, you may or may not experience menses.

 28-days Loette Courses

This type of cycle comes with 28 pills. 21 pills have the birth control hormones, while the 7 pills are white. Take the 21 pills consecutively each day at the same time for 21 days. After this, continue with the white pills for the next 7 days; Take the pills at the same time each day.

Loette with a Non-Hormonal Backup

If you are taking Loette for the first time, it is vital to have a non-hormonal backup package to make the method more effective. This backup method should contain latex condoms, spermicidal foams, and gels. Use Loette and this backup package for at least 7 days.

Swapping Loette with an alternative birth control measures is not encouraged, especially midway the treatment as it may make the methods ineffective. You can get pregnant if you engage in sex without non-hormonal backup when the drug has not taken effect. A non-hormonal package is also essential in cases where you forget your dosage.

Switching to Loette from other medications

A patient may change from any other birth control methods to Loette. For effective results, the patient should start taking Loette the next day after stopping the initial treatment, especially if it is from a progestin-only pill.

In the case of injection, the patient should start Loette, the day the implant is removed, while in the case of an injection, the patient should start Loette that day, the next dose is due. The period of changing from another birth control method to Loette is risky. Thus, a patient is advised to use a non-hormonal backup package for at least 7 days.

At times bleeding may occur while using Loette. You need to continue with the dosage as the doctor prescribed. However, always consult your doctor, especially, you experienced prolonged or heavy bleeding.

What happens if a patient consumes more than a single tablet?

The patient should start taking the drug a day later than they should have. However, there is a probability of missing the first menstrual flow.

Loette: FAQs

Will I vomit after taking Loette pill?

Some women might feel nauseousnausea. In such a case, check with your physician; you may require an antiemetic drug to stop vomiting.

What is the solution in case I skip or miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, take it as soonit soon as you recall. If this is before 12 hours, it has no effectn effect.  However, if it is more than 12 hours, it depends on the week you are in. The golden rule is you need even days of continuous taking to prevent pregnancy.

In case of a pink pill, take it as soonit soon as you recall; resume the regular schedule with your next dosage. As much as it may feel like 2 tablets in a single day, the effect is not noticeable. Maintain this second schedule at least for 7 days to get effective results.

When you miss a dose in the 1st or 2nd week, take 2 pills at the earliest time you remember, especially if you missed 2 doses in a row. In your next scheduled dosage (the nextnext day), take 2 pills again. After this, go back to the usual single pill each day. Maintain consistency with pink pills for at least 7 days in a row.

If you miss your dosage on 2 consecutive days after consuming one tablet on day 1 of1, of week three, stop the medication and start a new pack on the same day. This procedure also applies to all other weeks if you miss 3 or more pink pills in a row during a week.

If you had a Sunday start and you missed s tablet in a row on the 3rd week, take one pill each day until the following Sunday. After this Sunday, start a new pack, and throw away the old package.

If you started your dosage on Sunday as your periods begin, and you missed 2 or more pink pills in a row in any week, you'll have to take a single medicine each day till the next Sunday. On that Sunday, start a new pack of medication after throwing the old one.

In all the cases above, the second form of birth control is to be in guidance with the consumption of seven tablets each day in a row.

Note that missing pills within any week may lead to loss of periods that month or the month that follows. When you miss periods, consult the doctor lest it turns out to be a pregnancy.

What if I consume the Overdose of Loette?

No data exist on the adverse effects of consuming Loette. However, women experience nausea and lack of menses.
